It sounds like you skipped a few steps. Make sure to paste the codes at the bottom of all codes (as the instructions state). Also for the third option (you're using tumblr I think), follow steps 5 and 6 to save.5. At the top click on "Update Preview". Did the cursor show? If not leave a comment.6.
